Available for Adoption!
Kricket is a 12 year old, 15.1 hand Morab mare. She was a local surrender whose previous owner tried to breed her for many years unsuccessfully. When she no longer served a purpose, she was left unattended to. The day I arrived to meet Kricket, she was living alone in a small corral without any shade or shelter. She was at a BCS of 1, covered in rain rot, with raw cheekbones from never having the halter removed and just shivering in the pouring rain. Once unloaded at the rescue, it took two weeks before she allowed us to catch her and many more before she calmly gave us her feet. Kricket's journey has been a truly inspiring one, as we've watched her heal both physically and psychologically. Although Kricket's progress may seem slow compared to some of the other horses available, the steps she has made are huge for her. The first day she not only allowed us to catch her halter-less in 3+ acre enclosure but came trotting up to greet us was among the happiest at Ledgewood, as we had all worried she might never regain that trust. Kricket has won over the hearts of everyone involved in her recovery and training here at Ledgewood Rescue and, with some patience and care, she is sure to win over yours.

** Placed but sadly it did not work out and he was safely returned to us. Always thankful for those that honor their contracts and take good care of the horses, helping them along in whatever way they can. He will receive some more training here and then be available for adoption again soon. Stay tuned for updates!
Zonto (a.k.a. "Z") is a 6 year old, 14 hand Quarter Welsh pony cross. He arrived malnourished and skittish. Once we were confident we would be able to catch him, Z was turned out with the herd on 3 acres at first... eventually building to 20. He is really enjoying the social contact and progressing very well, both physically and mentally. After extensive groundwork to build trust as well as his confidence, Z has been saddled and long-lined. While quite nervous for the first few rides, he has come along amazingly- leading trail rides his first time out of the ring and swimming in the river under-saddle. We've played a little with liberty and trick work as well and he just loves it! Z is a real people person, running over the greet you, as well as a very easy keeper that gets along well with everybody. He needs someone patient and gentle to help him work through some anxieties but is smart and eager to please. He would make a wonderful and truly rewarding project for the right person. |

Trixie is a 16 year old (17 next month), 15.1 hand registered Appaloosa mare. She is a wonderful, reliable, all-around horse! Trixie rides english or western, is kid-safe, and has perfect ground manners. She has ridden in parades as well as drill teams, competed in barrel racing and enjoys the trails too. Trixie has an intermittent lameness in her stifle which makes her best suited for light riding or as a child's horse. She has no known injury/cause for this discomfort and does not require any special treatment or care for it. We simply ask that she go to a home that will be considerate and patient with her. Trixie really is one of the sweetest and most well-behaved horses out there and is looking for her loving, forever home. |

Breezy is an 8 year old, 15.1 hand Paint mare. She is beautiful, with her unique red roan overo coloring! This young mare has just begun work under-saddle and is coming along well. While Breezy is still confused as to the rein cues, she leg yields well and is calm at both the walk as well as the trot under-saddle. She can be strong-willing though and, at least at this point in her training, requires an experienced handler. That being said, Breezy is both sweet and smart. She would make a fun project for the right person!

Moka is a 5 yr old, 15 hand QH mare. This beautiful and well-built mare is registered with great cutting bloodlines. She rides English or Western, has even begun some bridle-less work, and is great for children! PJ's Doc O Tivio S, known as Moka around the barn, is great in the ring but especially enjoys the trails. She will go out alone and is wonderful about roads, water, bridges, etc. Moka has been used for kids' lessons as well as ridden on trail by beginners. She has a real in-your-pocket kind of personality, running up to meet you at the gate and staying with you at liberty. She is easy to tie, trailer, and bathe.

Tucson is a 3 year old, 16 hand Warmblood colt. Pulled from New Holland as an unhanded yearling, he was given a year to recover and relax at a quarantine facility nearby before coming to us for training. He has received 8 months of work, both on the ground as well as under-saddle, and is ready for his forever home. Tuce is exceptionally level-headed for a youngster and would do fine with even a beginner rider. He has amazing dressage prospect but also just loves the trails. |
